Meet Faron and Nancy Golden, FCM's new missionaries

"For I know the plans I have for you"

At the age of 25, Faron Golden was in the Marine Corps stationed in Guam when God sent him a dream he would never forget.

“I saw a vision of a cliff, and at regular intervals, there were men stationed along the edge of the cliff. They each had a Bible open and they were warning people,” Faron said. “Wherever a person was, the people were turning away from the cliff and going back. In the background, there was a hill with a cross on it, the cross of Calvary, and people were headed back up the hill. But, there was a place along the cliff with a missing person where people were falling over the edge, and the Lord put in my heart that was my place. I had missed that place and needed to get back there, so I did.”

That was the turning point in Faron’s life. He had accepted Christ as his savior at the age of 15, but he’d been running from the Lord’s calling to preach.

Three years later in North Carolina, a man named George from Faron’s church told him that God instructed him to paint an image he was given in a dream. God told George He would show him who he needed to give the painting to one day. Then George brought Faron over to his house, showed him the picture he painted three years ago, and said, ‘God told me it was for a man, and you’re the man.’ The painting depicted the same dream Faron had while he was in Guam.

After having the dream, Faron reached out to his pastor, who began mentoring him and guiding him towards the education he would need to become a pastor. Eventually, he earned a master’s degree in leadership from Luther Rice College and Seminary and he’s currently pursuing a doctorate with International Seminary.

In 2025, Faron and his wife Nancy said, “yes” to God’s call to become long-term missionaries with Four Corners Ministries at Abaana’s Hope in Uganda.

“We began praying, and one day on the couch, we just decided that we were going to say, ‘yes,’ not even knowing where we were going or what the question was,” Nancy laughed. “We were willing to say yes to wherever God wanted to use us, not knowing that it would be overseas. Together, we’ve made that commitment to God, and He’s going to honor that and take care of us.”

Nancy remembers giving her life to Christ when she was in the sixth grade at Vacation Bible School. She didn’t fully understand her faith and what it meant to follow Christ until many years later at a time that was difficult for her and her children. Through this trying time, she drew closer to the Lord.

Nancy decided she didn’t want to be married again, but the Lord directed her path and through mutual friends, He put Faron in her life. Faron, originally from Enterprise, Ala., and Nancy, originally from Monroeville, Ala., have been married since 1991, and through their 34 years of marriage, they’ve been side by side in ministry. Now they have two sons and six grandchildren.

Faron has pastored several churches, the most recent being Grace Pointe Baptist Church in Alexander City, Ala. Prior to serving there, the Goldens went through the North American Mission Board screening process to become church planters. After planting several churches, including Lake Pointe Baptist Church in Walnut Hill, Ala., they transitioned to revitalization, serving in churches without pastors.

“In our first church together, we went on a mission trip to Guam and that really lit our fire for doing mission work,” Faron said. “We went to Venezuela and we went together to Guatemala five or six years in a row. We went enough times to Guatemala and served alongside people there to really see the needs of people that had not heard the gospel and just felt like that's something God wanted us involved with.”

Later, Faron also had the opportunity to travel to Columbia, India, and Uganda on evangelical mission trips. Along with their passion for missions, the Goldens also have a love for music. Nancy plays the organ and piano and Faron plays the guitar.

"'For Such a Time as This"

In 2017, Faron went on his first trip to Uganda with FCM and went to Adjumani Refugee Camp to minister to the refugees there. During this visit, the ministry saw the need for pastor training and the idea for the Living Stones Pastor Training Center began to develop.

“My heart was touched. There’s an awful lot of suffering people in this world who need the gospel. They need the hope that the gospel brings,” Faron said.

Since that trip, Faron felt a pull to be involved with the PTC. By the 2025 FCM annual banquet, he and Nancy heard more about the needs of the PTC going forward. They began praying for God to direct their path, and He gave them peace about going to Uganda as long-term missionaries.

“I just thought, ‘What if I don’t go? What if we say no?’ Almost instantly, God brought to my mind the story of Esther, and I could almost hear the Spirit of God saying, ‘For such a time as this. If you don’t go, I’ll raise up somebody else, but you’ve been equipped,’” Faron said. “I just knew, when I heard that phrase, ‘for such a time as this,’ that we were going and we've never looked back.”

They are both excited about serving with the team at Abaana’s Hope. Faron has a desire to see unreached, unengaged people groups introduced to the Gospel of Jesus, and Nancy has a heart to encourage and support the wives of pastors and elders.

In addition to pastoral experience and earning advanced degrees, Faron learned French in high school, which is the international language of Uganda’s neighboring country the Democratic Republic of Congo. In September, the PTC graduated a few pastor students from DRC.

Nancy also has years of experience in various administrative and bookkeeping roles including at banks, insurance companies, Troy University, and more. She is hoping to apply these skills at Abaana’s Hope as well.

In November, Nancy had her first opportunity to see Abaana’s Hope in person. She and her husband met with the other missionary families, the Acholi people, and she spent time with the church elders’ wives.

“It was just amazing,” she said. “The people are so genuine. They just love you. I saw a lot of need, a lot of things that we can help with, especially in my case, the elders’ wives. They have some of the same struggles that I have had in our ministry, so I feel like that's where I can help out some. I left a part of my heart there, and I’m ready to go back.”

Faron and Nancy are preparing to go to Mission Training International in Colorado and will be making the move to Uganda this year. Please pray for the Goldens during this transition. Please pray specifically for wisdom, good health, and strength as they follow God’s calling.
