ACEN SANTA was born in Laminto in 1977, one of 14 children. When the war started, the family moved to Paicho IDP Camp. The Rebels came near Paicho while they were out digging and started shooting. Their mother was killed and Santa, along with her younger siblings was captured. She and all the siblings except one brother were able to escape after 1 week. They have never received any news about her brother. After returning to Paicho, she met her husband and gave birth to 5 children. In 2010 they returned to her husband’s family land in Kinene and had another child. In June 2013, her husband contracted malaria and died, leaving Santa a widow with 6 children and another baby due in December. She then moved back to Laminto to her father’s family. She became a Christ-follower after hearing the gospel at ABAANA’S HOPE in August. She gave birth to a little girl in December and is making jewelry to help support her family.
