Akanyo Beatrice

Akanyo Beatrice is one of 12 children born to her mother and father. Her greatest desire as a child was to be able to go to school. But unfortunately, she was never able to attend more than 2 years of elementary school. Because her father was a soldier in the Ugandan army, her family had to move frequently. When he finally retired, he took another wife and told Beatrice she must dig the ground rather than go to school. At 15 years old, Beatrice was abducted by the LRA. She escaped but was abducted again. Escaping a second time, she was able to return home. It is at this time she met and married her husband. But shortly after their marriage she was abducted a third time. She would be abducted a total of 5 times, being greatly mistreated and nearly losing her life. Tired and weary, God provided an escape, and she was able to return to her husband. God blessed their marriage with 3 children. But tragedy struck again as she watched her husband struggle for his life and pass away. Beatrice found herself at the lowest place of her life. She had no way of caring for herself or her children. One day, as she passed by a local church, she ran inside and cried out to the Lord. The pastor shared God’s Word with

her. Beatrice confessed Christ and dedicated her children to God. In the next year, God orchestrated the leaders of Abaana’s Hope to learn of Beatrice’s situation and provide a place for her in the WRC Program. It was during this time that Beatrice was able to start healing and learn of God’s love for her. She was able to save money and purchase her own land and home. Through her work at LifeBeads, Beatrice is able to care for her children. Although she never

finished school, God has provided an education to all three of her children. Beatrice is thankful for God’s faithfulness to her.
